Lodge Manager

Description

The Lodge Manager is a key member of the Tyax leadership team, providing hands-on oversight of all hospitality operations and ensuring an exceptional experience for every guest. This role is responsible for leading all aspects of the Tyax experience, including lodge rooming, reservations, food & beverage, gift shop, camping, chalet, and spa programs.
The Lodge Manager is a natural leader who excels at building strong professional relationships, inspiring their team, and solving daily operational challenges. This role involves a blend of strategic planning and hands-on management — including budgeting, hiring, coaching, training, and service recovery — all with the goal of delivering life-changing mountain experiences for our guests.
The Lodge Manager holds ultimate responsibility for hospitality operations, driving efficiency, maintaining service standards, and ensuring profitability across all departments. Flexibility is essential: this position includes split shifts during the winter heli-ski season and weekend/holiday coverage during spring, summer, and fall. The scope of responsibilities will evolve as Tyax’s organizational structure grows and adapts.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations
  • Serve as a core member of the leadership team, accountable for site operations, guest experience, employee experience, and lodge infrastructure.

  • Provide direct leadership and coordination of all hospitality departments to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

  • Deliver outstanding experiences across all guest touchpoints, including heli-ski packages, chalets, campground, events, small groups, and transient reservations.

  • Lead and actively participate in lodge operations during high-demand periods, covering gaps as needed.

Team Management & HR
  • Recruit, hire, train, mentor, and coach the lodge team, fostering a high-performing, service-focused culture.

  • Set and uphold service standards, manage service recovery, and ensure adequate training across departments.

  • Administer performance management, feedback, and incident reporting for lodge employees.

  • Oversee staff accommodation allocations, including monthly and departure inspections.

Guest Experience
  • Manage all guest communication after booking and post-stay, including inquiries, complaints, and feedback.

  • Administer guest surveys and lead weekly reviews of guest and employee feedback.

  • Drive initiatives to improve the guest experience through process analysis and collaboration with team leaders.

Planning & Administration
  • Build and lead the annual operating plan, coordinate weekly team meetings, and track action items and KPIs in collaboration with the General Manager.

  • Oversee payroll for lodge-based teams, accounts payable, reservation audits, and payment processing.

  • Produce and distribute daily lodge reports, manage waiver implementation, and handle supplier ordering.

Maintain ownership of core lodge email inboxes: lodgemanager@tyax.com, info@tyax.com, careers@tyax.com, reservations@tyax.com.

Financial & Business Management
  • Work with the General Manager to review financial data and adjust operational budgets to drive profitability.

  • Oversee daily cash-outs, petty cash, lodge tip-outs, and monthly inventory counts (gift shop, liquor, kitchen, restaurant, housekeeping, maintenance, spa).

Safety & Compliance
  • Create and maintain a safe, compliant workplace in accordance with WorkSafe BC, WHMIS, and Occupational Health & Safety requirements.

  • Play a key role in Tyax’s Emergency Response Plan procedures during emergencies.

Technology & Systems
  • Own and administer operational systems including Squirrel POS, Chase Payments, Roomkey PMS, key cards, phone and internet systems.

  • Set up clerk IDs and access permissions for team members as required.

Collaboration & Communication
  • Work closely with the Heli Operations Manager, Sales & Reservations Manager, Events Manager, Accountant, and other supervisors to ensure coordinated operations.

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, office personnel, and area management in a professional, solution-oriented manner.

Compensation

$75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
