The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Accountant (0.6 FTE) to take ownership of core accounting functions across two companies: Tyax Lodge & Heliskiing and Tyax Real Estate (TRE LTD).
This is a high-ownership role with clear expectations around accuracy, timeliness, and financial visibility. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for core accounting deliverables and operate with a high degree of independence.
This role is based in our Pemberton office, with periodic time at Tyax Lodge, and is well suited to someone who values flexibility, autonomy, and working across a dynamic, multi-faceted business.
Key Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include:
Own full-cycle accounting across two companies
Deliver accurate monthly financial reporting on a consistent schedule
Oversee accounts payable, receivable, and payroll
Lead budgeting and track departmental performance against plan
Build and maintain budgeting tools for department leads
Develop and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts
Ensure compliance with tax and reporting requirements (GST, PST, payroll, etc.)
Track and support capital project financials
Additional responsibilities include:
Support operational reconciliation (F&B, guest services)
What Success Looks Like
Monthly financials are accurate and delivered on time
Payroll and core accounting functions run consistently without errors
Clear visibility into cash flow and upcoming financial needs
Department leaders have simple, usable budgeting tools
Financial issues are identified early and communicated clearly
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience
Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and payroll
Experience with budgeting, reporting, and reconciliations
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed
Comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy
Experience in hospitality, tourism, or multi-revenue environments is an asset
This role is best suited to someone who has previously owned accounting responsibilities independently and is comfortable working with minimal supervision.
Compensation
FTE salary range of $70,000 – $85,000 annually, pro-rated to 0.6 FTE
Final compensation will reflect experience, demonstrated ownership of similar responsibilities, and ability to operate independently.
